Launched simultaneously was the groundbreaking Covet design network and iPad application, making it possible for VISI readers to become part of the content-curation process and bringing VISI’s online offering in line with global social-media trends. The design of the site itself also broke new ground, reflecting VISI’s benchmark-setting style and innovating in terms of homepage layout, navigation and user-generated content. And the publishing world took note of this:

Bookmarks
On 10 November, at the 2011 Bookmark awards VISI.co.za scooped a silver award in the category for Websites/Microsite/Mobisites for Specialist Publishers (smaller, niche audiences with less than R5-million turnover per annum).

Loeries
VISI and partners Network BBDO and Stonewall/Native were finalists in no less than four of the 2011 Loeries categories for the fabulous VISI.co.za, our Covet network and the Covet application. The categories were as follows:
• Design mixed-media campaign
• Website
• Branded mobile content and apps
• Tactical use of magazine

The innovative iPhone app won the coveted Vodacom Mobile Award (a Gold Loerie) as well as a Silver Loerie, while VISI.co.za bagged a Silver in the Internet, Mobile and Interactive Communication category. VISI.co.za was the only website to win an award.

Assegai
Once again, VISI.co.za scooped a silver award at the 2011 Assegai Integrated Marketing Awards, in the website category where NATIVE Digital Agency for VISI.co.za accepted the award.

PICA
Not to be outdone by the website, the magazine itself was awarded the very prestigious Cover of the Year in Consumer magazines at the black-tie PICA 2011 ceremony. Also, VISI was awarded a highly commended for Non-Professional Writer of the Year, Nick Plewman for VISI 55.
