And the awards keep on rolling

First up, we won a Pearl Award for Multichoice in New York.

Published by New Media for Multichoice, Dish was one of 638 entries in the awards programme, which celebrate excellence in custom content across print, digital and other media platforms and had top content publications entered from all over the world. This is the second Pearl for New Media: in 2010, Woolworth’s TASTE was awarded a bronze for best cover.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have received this award, and to share the limelight with such talented winners,” said Laura Cooke, Dish Digital’s editor. “Our whole team puts a lot of energy and creativity into each issue, and it’s fantastic to see this hard work recognised, particularly in an international forum.”

Dish Digital has transformed television highlights into an engaging and exciting experience, with beautiful imagery and rich content since its launch in July 2010, adds Nicci Brown, promotions and relationship marketing manager at DStv. “The New Media design and editorial team has succeeded beyond our expectations in developing this dynamic package, which highlights the best and the widest variety of programmes for DStv subscribers in a punchy, vibrant format and emphasizes the premiere nature of the brand. We are very excited to be part of this big win.”

This major award was followed shortly by VISI making it as finalist in no less than four of the 2011 Loeries categories for the fabulous, their Covet network and the Covet application. The categories were as follows:
• Design mixed-media campaign
• Website
• Branded mobile content and apps
• Tactical use of magazine
The innovative iPhone app won the coveted Vodacom Mobile Award (a Gold Loerie) as well as a Silver Loerie, while bagged a Silver in the Internet, Mobile and Interactive Communication category. was the only website to win an award!

Then TASTE (for Woolworths) and VISI won at the Bookmarks Awards – these awards are highly prized as, besides recognising creative and functional brilliance, there is a strong focus on performance and measurability. In other words, the sites not only look good and work well, they have also delivered real results and returns on investment.

Next up were the PICA awards, where TASTE cleaned up, winning seven awards, namely:
•         Customer magazine of the year (for the third year running)
•         Customer editor of the year for Sumien Brink
•         Best online solution (across all three publishing sectors – for the second year running)
•         Best cover, customer magazines
•         Overall magazine design of the year – customer magazines
•         Best tie in with integrated marketing objectives
TASTE also walked away with a highly commended for Layout of the year for Boxing Clever.

17 November 2011 was a great day for VISI as they won a PICA and an Assegai award that night, at two different ceremonies, of course. At the PICAs, VISI was awarded the very prestigious Cover of the Year in Consumer magazines, as well as a highly commended for Non-Professional Writer of the Year, Nick Plewman for VISI 55. While scooped a silver award at the 2011 Assegai Integrated Marketing Awards, in the website category.

Privé magazine (Sun International) scored a hat trick of highly commendeds at the PICAs in these categories:
•         Customer magazine of the year
•         Overall magazine design, custom
•         Cover of the year, custom
And that was still not the end of PICA honours for New Media - Plascon Spaces was also given a highly commended in the Launch or relaunch of the year category.

We at New Media are immensely proud of the teams and all their hard work that made the 2011 award season such a sensation for us.
